This could've been done much better. However, I have little time before I leave for an eleven day journey on the West Coast, so this is my current, messy result.
Some of you may recognize this effect as the result of solarisation, something that can be digitally imitated at a rudimentary level with a basic Photoshop stylizing filter (Filters -> Stylize -> Solarize). Following this up with colorization can yield some very interesting results.
However, there are better ways to control the effect in both Photoshop and its free alternative, GIMP, which I may be able to cover at a future time.
Skywatch Friday.
Oh wow. Some of my nightmares look like this - post apocalyptic, nuclear-wintery... But the sky is nicer when enlarged.
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip! I'm heading off on a 10-day field biology course on Monday, and moving flat tomorrow...exciting times!
You do indeed bring up old nightmares with this image! But that does it: I have to buy Photoshop!
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip Bryan! And I espect lots of shots from your trip! :)

Wow. I love it! Almost SciFi-ish.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I was trying to be funny about the saliva vs. water thing. I guess I wasn't that funny. Sorry. :-(

ReplyDeleteYou're coming here!!!! Enjoy your visit. I can't wait to see your photos from here too soon.
ReplyDeleteI like the heavy and crisp feeling in that photo so much I'd like to be there to experience it. No nightmares for me. =)
ReplyDeleteI love this, but it feels like a scene from one of those movies where the world will end in the next 2 days. Where should we hide?
ReplyDeleteGreat effect, thanks, I must try it sometime.
ReplyDeleteWhat are you talking about, messy?! It's cool as cool can be, Bryan! I've gotta try this - too cool to pass up!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing! And so unique! I love it. Not messy at all.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all the nightmare associations above! :-) Very futuristic!
ReplyDeleteThat is pretty cool... I expect to see some terminators running around!

ReplyDeleteWow, I have missed out a lot of wonderful photos here. Thank goodness, I finally recovered from my sinusitis. Great effect! It reminds me of a science fiction movie. Hope you enjoy your journey and have a nice week, Bryan :)
ReplyDeleteI've never played with the solarization filter much. Maybe I should experiment with it more. Look forward to seeing the "how to" when you do it.
